(2022) 1:650 Star Trek: Nemesis – Enterprise 1701-E (2007 Cast #001, Incarnation #004) in The Albert Siow Collection

As stated in October 2007, and again in December 2012: This 41 inch model was mastered by Richard Long in 2005-2006. This was the very first cast kit from his patterns. Though it was the first cast in the world of this model kit, it was the third to be built and finished. The first two (Casts #002 and #003) were built and finished by ILM artist John Eblan, under his company banner of “The FX Company”.

What a story this model has… and now, with it’s complete re-build by artist Dan Grumeretz, I hope this to be it’s final representation as a part of the Albert Siow Collection.

As the story goes: The first Kuhn Global build, using Cast #001 (which I refer to as “Incarnation #001), was first painted in 2007 to replicate the USS Enterprise we viewed in Star Trek: Nemesis. Sadly, while on display, the secondary hull buckled, causing the model to fall forward, thus damaging the model significantly. Aside from a mounting point having originally been glued into it’s hull, we discovered that there was no armature built into the model for strength and stability. As with all Starships named Enterprise, the Enterprise 1701-E is extremely front heavy being that it’s saucer section makes up most of the design. Of course in space this would not be an issue, but since this is a model here on Earth,.. with gravity, it makes every difference…lol. Moving on, with the model significantly damaged, in 2012 artist Marc Elkins took on the commission to fix this fantastic piece, taking it apart, and placing an armature inside of it. After doing so, he re-painted all of the damaged areas and presented it to me. It was beautiful, and that representation can only be seen in one of the videos I made of one of my visits to see Marc years ago. Unfortunately this model representation was never photographed in front of the Blue Screen. It is what I call “Incarnation #002”. Shortly after receiving the fixed model from Marc, the Port side Bussard Collector on the Nacelle stopped working, with the lighting effects no longer lighting. Something had obviously become disconnected, or shorted out. Instead of having Mark take the model apart again, I asked Marc to instead place a battle damaged paint job on it, then making it a replica miniature of the 1701-E from Star Trek: Insurrection. The battle damaged Insurrection 1701-E is what I refer to as “Incarnation #003”. The model was then sold on May 6, 2013 to my friend and collector Albert Siow, who promptly commissioned artist Dan Grumeretz to re-build it entirely.

Nearly 15 years later from it’s original build, now being April 2022, this model has now reached it’s pinnacle. Dan Grumeretz has done amazing work with his replication of the USS Enterprise 1701-E as Albert Siow wanted it to be seen. This all new build, made from Cast #001, is seen here in my Blue Screen Photos. What I wish I had captured as well is the amazing lighting and sound effects that are now included in this model… which I refer to as “Incarnation #004”. Perhaps Albert and Dan will make an additional posting on Modelers Miniatures & Magic to show those amazing features in the future,.. as they are stunning! No pun intended. lol. I mean ‘stunning’ literally as the phaser strips work as if they are firing. Then there are the nacelle effects of going to warp! And in addition are not only Photon Torpedo firing effects, but also Quantum Torpedo firing effects! This piece is fully loaded, enabled by the fantastic products of Starling Technologies… Stanley Koziol. I also love the fact that Dan included the Shuttle design, from Star Trek: Insurrection, to be inside the open, and lit, main Shuttle Bay on the rear of the Saucer section. If you look closely at it, you will notice that the Nacelles of the Shuttle are actually lit! The beautiful paint job is amazing… and everything, with the exception of the lifeboat numbering, is PAINTED ON!! Dan did amazing work on this piece. OUTSTANDING!!

This piece is truly amazing, and I am very happy it has a home in the Albert Siow Collection. I am grateful to Albert of allowing me to photograph this piece one last time.

Enjoy the Blue Screen Photos…

Peace be unto you.

Star Trek VI – Studio Scale Klingon K’RONOS One Replica

This is the world’s FIRST Studio Scale Klingon K’RONOS One Replica, as seen in the 1991 Film, Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country.

What can I say? I have dreamed of this piece for quite some time…. and I know many of you have as well.

Built from the amazing Richard Long studio scale Klingon K’TINGA kit (of which only 5 or 6 were produced), artist Dan Grumeretz took extra care to make sure this piece was as accurate as we could make it to be K’RONOS One. Utilizing the Jim Creveling photos of the actual studio model (Seen Here), Dan replicated the details that were not on the K’Tinga Kit. He modified the neck mating area, the Engine Nacelles, the Bridge, the rear…. just about everything other than the shape Richard amazingly created by hand. We even recreated the patterns for the brass photo etch, sending them out to a company that is unfamiliar with this art form… just so this would be a surprise to everyone. I asked Dan to place in full lighting…. including the navigation and blinking lights, and the Torpedo Bay which lightly burns… like the embers of a fire almost out… extremely nice to view. Even the wiring on the outside of the ship, going down the length of the neck, we replicated. One cannot really touch this piece as their hands or clothes may get caught on the many pieces of photo etch upon it’s hull….. it is everywhere! I asked Dan to replicate the splotches of gold painted on here and there to make this K’Ronos replica as ornate as the original. It is magnificent. Dan did a fantastic job…. as is his usual. Thank you Dan! And though he is no longer in this art form…. thank you Richard.

Photographing this was a real treat. This is K’Ronos One, and my excitement levels are through the roof!

In my new photography area, my lighting is a bit challenged, yet I managed to get some good shots of this beast. I will endeavor to fix my lighting issues for the next piece coming up. Dust is also a bit of a challenge here… lol. Keep in mind that some of these are extreme close-up photos, and as such reveal tiny things that one would not normally see with the naked eye.

This was a joyous experience…. and I am so thrilled to have this in the collection here.

As stated above… Richard Long in no longer in this art form… and no longer produces anything within it, making this piece extremely rare.

1/24 Poe Dameron BLACK T-70 X-Wing Fighter

The Black T-70 X-Wing turned out fantastic by artist Dan Grumeretz. To my knowledge, this is the world’s first 1/24 build to be completed and shown publicly. It was a pleasure to photograph, and now resides in the collection here for all to view.

This began life a few years ago with a Pattern being made by Artist Richard Long. A few years later Richard sold me the incomplete Patterns of which I in turn, gave them to the owner of KORBANTH Sabers Props & Models (Randy Johnson) to finish and offer parts from, that all may enjoy this model. Randy gave them to one of his Kit Makers, artist Mark Worley, and it was Mark that finished the pattern, adding details to it before making molds of it. Eventually the first set of parts came out of those molds. Because I purchased the patterns originally, I received cast numbers 1, 2 & 3 of this fine offering. What you see here is number 1 that I asked artist Dan Grumeretz to turn into Poe Dameron’s BLACK X-Wing Fighter. In the film “The Last Jedi” there was an addition to the rear of the X-Wing added…. a TURBO Booster Engine. Both Mark and Dan went to work to produce this excellent add on that we made interchangeable with the original by adding magnets to the part.

A beautiful job by all. I wish to thank Richard Long, Randy Johnson, Mark Worley, and Dan Grumeretz for helping bring this miniature to life, and to the public.

World’s FIRST Studio Scale USS Defiant NX-74205 Replica

When Richard Long began his pattern work on this amazing model years ago, I felt lucky to be on the list whom would get this piece. Today, I know I am lucky to have one as only 3 were made according to Richard, and what you see here is number 1 of those 3 made. After Dana Moss cast the resin parts and laid up the fiberglass for this piece, Richard then a made basic build and paint up of this piece in time to be seen at 2013’s Wonderfest. After it’s successful debut, Richard brought it home and I assigned it to artist Dan Grumeretz to basically rebuild it, adding the lighting, windows, extra details and painted markings. While some of the markings are decals, some are also painted on. Since this is a smaller Starship, utilizing fiber optic for the windows would not work for it’s scale, so Dan used clear acrylic rods for the even lighting of the windows…. somewhat like what fiber optics accomplish. Dan also did the red vinyl tape job for the stripes, finishing it for display here in the Collection. I thank all artists involved, including Star Trek’s Doug Drexler for assisting Richard with the design in order to get the shape and markings correct. I am very pleased with the result of this replica.

(2012) 1:650 Star Trek: INSURRECTION – Enterprise 1701-E (2007 Cast #001, Incarnation #003)

As stated in October 2007: This 41 inch model was mastered by Richard Long in 2005-2006, and this was the very first cast kit from his patterns. Though it was the first cast in the world of this model kit, it was the third to be built and finished. The first two (Casts #002 and #003) were built and finished by ILM artist John Eblan, under his company banner of “The FX Company”.

The first Kuhn Global build, using Cast #001 (which I refer to as “Incarnation #001), was first painted in 2007 to replicate the USS Enterprise we viewed in Star Trek: Nemesis. The battle damaged Insurrection 1701-E is what I now refer to as “Incarnation #003”, and is what you see photos of here in this posting. Of course this would not the end of this model’s journey. Due to unforeseen mishaps over the years, eventually this model would undergo a total of FOUR Incarnations of existence using the very same Cast parts that it was made from in the beginning. The model you see in these photos is the third incarnation of this fine miniature. Marc Elkins did OUTSTANDING work!

1:350 Star Trek The Motion Picture Klingon K’Tinga (Photo Set 2)

Earlier I had shown the first photos I took of this 1/350 Klingon K’Tinga (SEEN HERE). I had been unhappy with how they looked… and truth be told I am not entirely pleased with these I show you all here today either. Never the less,.. here they are. This model was the very first Klingon K’Tinga in 1/350 ever created to be in scale with the Polar Lights Enterprise Kit. This one IS actually #1 of those kits, and it was patterned, made into a kit, built and painted by it’s creator, artist Richard Long. This model was a long time coming for everyone that was a fan.  The only workable model of the K’Tinga that was released before this 1/350 REL Kit was the AMT/Ertl.. which was a much smaller kit that was not exactly correct in shape. The REL kit reigned for 10 years, with not as many made as many would have guessed. This one is very rare. That stated, in 2018, Round 2 Models announced they built a digitally accurate model to The Motion Picture K’Tinga, and that a 1/350 plastic kit would soon be released of it under their banner. Model builders around the world are smiling. Not that this model had anything to do with that, but I can state that this is the exact model in that scale that began the craze for what will be made…

1:72 Naboo Royal Starship #1 (A New Hope Era)

This 41 inch long piece was mastered by Richard Long. Because there was no great way of replicating the chrome finish we viewed in The Phantom Menace, we chose instead to do what Star Wars A New Hope did in showing older designs that were nearing the end of their operational lifetime. Thus this Naboo Cruiser is supposed to be the Episode 1 Royal Cruiser, but now old and tattered decades later, losing is shiny luster. This one was the first in a very low number produced. This piece now resides in the Hector Rosales Collection in the USA.

This piece has a 2016 Modeler Magic appraised value of $4,000 USD

1:350 Romulan Bird of Prey #2 in Romulan Green

This was mastered by artist Richard Long. He made me two of them so that this second one could be done in a paint scheme that was green in order to match what was shown on the TV series Enterprise. The first one of the two was the actual studio looking paint scheme of grey, which I gave to my friend Harry Hernandez.

This piece has a 2016 Modeler Magic appraised value of $3,800 USD

1:350 Star Trek The Motion Picture Klingon K’Tinga (Photo Set 1)

Mastered by artist Richard Long, this was the very first replica of this model in a larger size, and was to scale with the Polar Lights USS Enterprise Refit kit. The paint was replicated as close as possible with the reference available (as new reference is always showing up). Notice the spot lights on the engine housing that light up the Klingon symbol on the hull’s wing area. For it’s size… this is masterful. This was Richard Longs’s 1/350 K’Tinga Kit Cast # 001.

Star Trek TNG & DS9 Studio Scale Ferengi Marauder – Cast 1

This piece began as a cast from the original Star Trek TNG model patterns given to artist Richard Long to clean up for casting. The shop that sent it to Richard, (John Eblan’s shop), agreed to allow Richard to cast what he cleaned up, then sell a build to me in order to get Richard paid for the venture of doing so. What is extra memorable about this is that I actually made this deal with Richard while I was in Rome, Italy with my family on a business trip in which we were able to see the Pope at the Vatican. It is funny how we remember things we acquire. Richard did a magnificent job in his fix of the original in order to cast and build this piece. This would later go on to be shown in the Hector Rosales Collection in the USA.

This piece has a 2018 Modeler Magic appraised value of $25,000 USD
